Blogging Thoughts

s&j cover shot
I'm making some changes 'round here. I'm going to begin to give lots of attention to my and my brother's joint blog all about our clothing line, Sean & Jenna. This here blog will remain as a general update type of blog, but the fun stuff will be over at seanandjenna.com

Instead of just writing about myself, very un-daily here, there will be posts about all the things that come to influence what we create. All the music, art, film, literature, and history that we love. Plus lots of New York City!

Tuesday

Sneak Peak

Here are some of the very first images of my new t-shirt line! This business is a partnership, and as my partner is my brother, we thought it only fitting to call our company Sean & Jenna. More to come soooooooon!

Monday

Natural History

Took a trip to the Natural History Museum and went crazy for the Native American wing. So many nice patterns, and feathers, too.

Friday

At the Met

I spent my Thursday at the Metropolitan Museum. Everytime I go, I find something new that attracts me. This time it was the Egyptian art that was calling my name.

Thursday

Drawings for Screenprints

A few more drawings that I've done for future screenprints. I'm really enjoying the simplicity of the black and white, mixed with the bold pattern.

Tuesday

Screenprinting

I've been keeping busy, collecting screenprinting equipment, and relearning the whole process. Here are some pictures of the journey in the tiny corner of the apartment that I'm calling "The Studio."

Monday

This is one of the designs that is in the running for our first screenprinting.

Thursday

I'm working on re-teaching myself how to screenprint, which is quite a task in my tiny workspace. But I will prevail! I'm so excited about this t-shirt line that my brother and I are designing. Our first wares will be out soon.

We have a lofty goal - t-shirts that celebrate the romance of the American ideal. If you can't quite visualize it, that's fine. Just wait!

Now... T-shirts!

I was thinking the other day how much I love t-shirts, and how I should make some. So I did. Here is the first one - available at zazzle.com

Saint Jerome

I doubt that this will surprise anyone, but I am quite a fan of both music and classic film. These two, plus my passion for art are the basis of what I'm about. I'm going to try to vary my posts from now on and discuss more of what goes into me and subsequently comes out in my drawings. And I hope that I am able to occasionally write something of interest to people who may be more familiar with music or movies, as opposed to art.

And, along with that - here is a drawing that I did recently. I titled it "Saint Jerome," because it made me think of the beginning of Ghostbusters, in which we see the phantom in the basement of the NY Public Library. The drawing is much more colorful than that ghost is, naturally.

Tuesday

New Prints

After much deliberation, I've decided to expand my selection of prints that are available from my etsy shop. I had previously been selling a few of my automatic drawings as prints, and now some of my large oil paintings are available in print form. I think that they look absolutely divine in their smaller state.

Saturday

Interplanetary

This piece is called "Interplanetary." Why? Perhaps I was thinking of the Beastie Boys as I was naming this one. For me, titling this series of drawings is just as important as the actual drawing of them. I hope that the titles encourage the viewer to make associations from the image and their own personal memories.
