New Prints

After much deliberation, I've decided to expand my selection of prints that are available from my etsy shop. I had previously been selling a few of my automatic drawings as prints, and now some of my large oil paintings are available in print form. I think that they look absolutely divine in their smaller state.

Walk This Way
8" x 8" mixed media on wood

In this new series of abstracted interior spaces I'm mostly concerned
with the process - the pattern and line work become intuitive.

+new painting+ "Waterfall #1"

I decided that I am going to do a new series of paintings of things that I find interesting, so I made a list. I've always enjoyed waterfalls, and so waterfalls are the first subject that I am exploring. Here is the first painting, aptly titled "Waterfall #1." There are lots of layers and depth, and I used many different ways to apply the paint, it ended up pretty neat looking.

City Block #2

I just completed this new painting of a city block, it is another
piece in my ongoing series of urban dwellings. 3 modern homes squeezed
together on a tiny bit of street. I used so much color in this
painting, it's really vibrant and intense.

Red Tom

i'm beginning a new series of portraits of people that i find
interesting. they may or may not be famous, but what they all have in
common is a certain something that compels me to paint them.

First Degree

this is a new small (8"x10") abstract painting, loosely based on an
interior space. i like how it looks a little bit like a room after a
wild party, and a bit like a cave painting.

To the Docks

here's a new one, using one of my favorite subjects to paint- it is a
study of the workings of an interior space. i'm happy with the
interesting texture and perspective.

Green Stair

this painting is an abstracted interior space, layered upon and added
to until i got it just right. i love the mix of angles and play with
perspective. i used lots of color and textured paint application. i
think it's lots of fun to look at.

Pink Rooftop

this is a new painting that was inspired by both a view i had from an
old apartment, and the thoughts and memories that were stirred while
listening to an album that i am truly crazy about - "forever changes"
by love.

i have been thinking a lot about my work and decided it was time that
i embrace my biggest influence, which is music, and make it more of a
focal point in my paintings. i'm not sure exactly how i am going to do
this, but i definitely will not simply start titling my paintings with
song lyrics, unless it fits of course.

since i always paint with music playing, i think a good starting point
is to make note of what i'm listening to when i work on each piece and
see what the results show.
